Privacy Policy

CTRL is operated by JIQ MEDIA LLC ("JIQ MEDIA LLC," "CTRL," "we," "us"). This policy explains what data the CTRL app for iOS handles and how. We built CTRL to keep as much of your data on your own device as possible. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.

1. Screen Time & app-usage data stays on your device

CTRL uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to shield apps and detect usage. By Apple's design, the data these frameworks expose — which apps you select, when shielded apps are opened, and category information — is processed entirely on your device. CTRL never receives, transmits, or stores the identities of the apps you shield or your raw usage. We cannot see them.

2. Data stored on your device (and your iCloud)

Your focus sessions, credit balance, tier, settings, app-gate reasons, and history are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. If you have iCloud enabled, this data may sync across your own devices through Apple iCloud/CloudKit, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

3. We do not collect personal data off your device

CTRL does not require an account and does not send your personal data to our servers. Your focus sessions, credits, settings, and history stay on your device (and your own iCloud, if enabled). We have no server-side profile of you.

4. Subscriptions

CTRL Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription. We never receive your payment-card details. We only receive an anonymous receipt indicating whether a valid subscription is active.

5. Notifications

With your permission, CTRL sends local and push notifications (for example, session reminders). You can disable these at any time in iOS Settings.

CTRL is not directed to children under 13. If Family Controls is used under Apple Family Sharing, a parent or guardian's device manages authorization, per Apple's controls.

8. Your rights & data deletion

Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app removes it. If you have questions or requests, email support@thectrlapp.com and we will respond within 30 days.

9. Service providers

We rely on Apple for the App Store, iCloud, StoreKit purchases, and notifications. Apple processes that data under its own privacy terms.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in the app.
